Rip Mayowa. A sad story ends.
It all started when Mayowa went viral after her family uploaded an Instagram video of her soliciting for funds from Nigerians under the hashtag #SaveMayowa for treatment of the deadly Ovarian cancer.
The plea was dead on arrival, until popular nollywood actress, Toyin Aimakun stepped in, coupled with help from other notable Nigerians, the campaign was able to raise over N32 million. It was an incredible achievement.
However, controversy began when popular blogger, Linda Ikeji posted an article on her blog suggesting that the #savemayowa fund raising was a scam.
Linda insisted that she had sources to confirm that Mayowa’s family members were planning to run away with the donated funds.
But, official reports from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH which Mayowa was admitted in, Police Reports, and revelation from the media suggested otherwise:
The #SaveMayowa plea campaign was legit!! and the family were infact planning to take Mayowa abroad for treatment for ovarian cancer.
Unfortunately, they weren’t to achieve that. Mayowa gave up the ghost today, August 21, 2016.
What a tragedy!!!
