Man Who Killed His Girlfriend Breaks Down Before Being Remanded In Prison

This is the moment the suspected Yahoo boy, Adeyemi Alao, who allegedly killed his girlfriend for money ritual – broke down in court before he was remanded in prison. The suspect was arraigned before Akure Magistrates’ Court in Ondo, state capital on Monday.

Adeyemi was accused of killing Khadijat, the daughter  a former deputy governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo.
Khadijat, a 400-level student of the Department of Educational Management, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, was said to be Adeyemi’s girlfriend.
Adeyemi and two other accomplices, who were said to be at large, allegedly killed Khadijat in Adeyemi’s room.
After killing the ex-deputy governor’s daughter, Adeyemi allegedly buried the corpse in a shallow grave inside his room in the Aratusin area of Akure before he was arrested seven days later.

The accused was arraigned on  Monday on two counts of conspiracy and murder.
During the court proceedings, the  police prosecutor, Sergeant Mary Adebayo, made an application for the remand of the accused in custody pending legal advice from the Department of Public Prosecutions.
The defence counsel, Taiwo Gbadebo, did not object to the application of the prosecutor.

The magistrate, Mrs Victoria Bob-Manuel, ordered that Adeyemi be remanded in custody pending when the legal advice would come from the DPP.
She adjourned the case till August 23, 2018.

Russian businessman and founder of MMM, Sergey Mavrodi’s death would come as a rude shock to many around the world, especially to those who participated in the Ponzi scheme that cost many Nigerians their investments.

Childhood, young years, and the first arrest

We will reveal several facts from the life of Sergey Mavrodi:

• He was born on August 11, 1955 in the capital of Russia, Moscow.
• What’s the nationality of Sergey Mavrodi? This is a difficult question. His dad was from Donbass, had Ukrainian and Greek roots (the surname in Greek means “black” or “dark”). Mother was Russian.
• He was a very sickly child, Sergey had problems with the heart. Doctors predicted that he would not be able to reach eighteen years old. However, he did and even managed to make his name extremely popular all over the world.
• He finished the 10th grade in Moscow.
• After graduation, he studied mathematics at the Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics, MIEM.
• Then he worked in a research institute.
• As a student he constructed and sold video and audio recordings.
• In 1981, he left the research institute and decided to continue doing business.
• To avoid being prosecuted, he worked on low-paid but time-saving jobs.
• Two years later, Sergey Mavrodi was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Squad for selling illegal video. He was arrested for ten days, then he was released under an amnesty with a strict warning.

Foundation of MMM and second arrest

When was the first MMM company founded by Sergey Mavrodi?
It happened in 1989. Since then, he had created several dozen enterprises, which by the mid-1990s became a large financial pyramid. In August 1994, he was arrested for concealing taxes on the profits of his company, Invest-Consulting. In October the same year, he was released from custody because of change in the preventive measure.
On October 30, 1994, Mavrodi was elected a deputy gaining 29% of the vote in the State of Russia. Nevertheless, he neglected his duties as a deputy and continued to engage in commercial activities. Investigative actions against Mavrodi resumed, and one more charge was added to the previous – fraud.

Personal life

Sergey Mavrodi had a wife, her name is Elena Pavlyuchenko. They were together for 12 years, from 1993 to 2005. She was a model and winner of two beauty contests in 1992 and 1994. Elena Pavlyuchenko was born in Ukraine, Zaporozhye. Her mother was an engineer and father was doctor of science at a research institute. People say that the family life of Sergey Mavrodi was far from traditional. The spouses lived in different apartments and met only to spend time together. After their divorce in 2006, Elena gave birth to their daughter.

Prosecution

On 17th December 1997, he was announced a swindler in the all-Russian, and a bit later – in the world search. For about five years he lived in rented apartments and confinements. One version of reports says he lived for a long time in Scandinavia or Greece. The media also suggested that the businessman did not leave the capital at all.
Later, according to criminal investigation, it became known that the detainee had been in Moscow for the last year before his arrest. On May 22, 2007, the term of punishment expired. More than 50 representatives of the media gathered to see the release. Send Us Condoms; Gangs Which Impregnate Teenage Girls In Calabar (Photos)

The Director General, Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Betta Edu and her team paid a visit to a creek hide out in Calabar South where a good number of teenage pregnant girls reside in Calabar South.
The team met with some subtle opposition from the gangs that control happenings in the area.

The visit was in response to the high number of teenage pregnancy in Calabar South Local Government Area. Dr Betta Edu who met with the young girls who were aged between 11 and 17 years, noted that the girls were free prey to satisfy s*xual needs of the young men and boys in the creeks. They have unprotected s*x and share Sexually Transmitted Diseases freely among each other.
Being faithful to one partner was not part of the equation as the preyed on any available girl, except for a few who try to create territories. “It’s a different world there in the creeks,”according to reports.
After speaking to the young men off cameras as they instructed, they sounded remorseful and asked that several cartons of condom be sent to them so the can protect themselves, because for s*x they admitted they won’t stop or stick to one woman for life.
While speaking to the teenage pregnant girls in small groups in some compounds, Dr Edu told them about the different types of sexually transmitted diseases and how to prevent them. She also educated them on the prematurity of their bodies which are not prepared to carry babies yet and the complications that may arise if the don’t get the right care this period. Some of the girls opened up to tell her the ills that go on there and how the men reject condom that the won’t enjoy the s*x.
The teenage pregnant girls went further to state that they were registered in prayer houses and TBAs to deliver there. Dr Betta Edu recommended family planning methods for teenagers to restrict high rate of pregnancy among them to secure their future.
She described teenage pregnancy as an important public health problem that called for concern as the rate of abandoned children will increase.
“Contrary to what most people think, family planning is not only meant for married, but in the real sense of it, it is for every sexually active person not ready to bear children at that particular point in time. “Thus, teenagers who are sexually active and those not sexually active should know the implications of s*xual intercourse.

Edu said that there were specific family planning methods for individuals regardless of their age, following proper counselling and history taking.
Dr Edu who explained this to them in pidgin English and local dialect in some aspect said there should always make use of the Health facility closest to them were the health workers will take good care of them for free. She called on PHC workers in Calabar South to intensify sensitization.

Seven-Month-Old Baby Survives After Her Mother Throws Her Off A 118ft Bridge

A seven-month-old baby has miraculously survived after being thrown off a 118ft bridge by her own mother in north-east area of Brazil.
The mother with the name, Carla Regina Mendes, 23, threw baby Thayller over the railings on José Sarney Bridge, in Sao Luis, north east Brazil, on Sunday afternoon in front of shocked passersby.
The child had already sunk deep into the swampy river when two quick-thinking off-duty police officers got to her, just in time before she disappeared underneath the surface.

Baby Thallyer suffered a blow to her head and bruising to her back after landing in a stagnant stretch on the Sao Francisco river
Ms Mendes, who was arrested at the scene, later told police to be suffering from mental health problems and depression.

She has been sent for psychiatric tests and could face charges of attempted murder depending on the outcome of the evaluations.

I sleep with only 5 men per day — 25 year old sex worker

The police in Lagos have arrested the owner of Collabor Hotel, an inn on Ige Street in the Iyana Ipaja area of the state, for allegedly hosting underage sex workers in the facility.
The owner of the hotel, John Okon, was apprehended along with the hotel manager, Emmanuel Thomas. Their alleged accomplice, Monica Ita, was said to be at large.
PUNCH Metro learnt that operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, acting on intelligence, busted the hotel on Saturday, March 10, 2018, and caught a 15-year-old primary school leaver allegedly engaging in prostitution.

The girl was said to have been brought from her village in the eastern part of the country by Ita a few weeks ago on the pretext that she (Ita) would get her a good job.
Our correspondent gathered that one Destiny Bassey, 19, and 18-year-old Bright Effiong, who was said to have been at the inn for three years, were also picked up by the operatives.
During a parade on Tuesday at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja, the hotel operators admitted to providing service for the sex workers, except the 15-year-old girl.
The hotel manager, Thomas, said, “It is true that we provide rooms for sex workers where men visit them. We collect N5,000 from them (the sex workers) every week. We don’t give them out to men; they bring their customers themselves.”
The 15-year-old told PUNCH Metro that Ita persuaded her to come to Lagos when she (Ita) saw her playing around the village.
She said, “I finished from primary school two years ago, but I could not continue my study because my parents died. Aunty Monica (Ita) came to the village and asked me to follow her to Abuja. She said she would get me a good job.
“Some days after I got to Lagos, she took me to the hotel to do prostitution. I had yet to get a room when the police came to pick us.”
Bold and unabashed, Bassey, who gave her age as 25, said she slept with five men per day and collected N2,000 from each of her customers.
The Imo State indigene added that joblessness pushed her to the act.
She said, “Nobody forced me into prostitution. I have been hustling at the hotel for some years now. I send part of the money I make to my relatives in the village for the upkeep of my child. I don’t have parents and my husband is dead.
“I sleep with five men every day, so I make as much as N10,000. I pay the hotel N5,000 every week. I wanted to save enough money for my education.”
Effiong, an indigene of Calabar, Cross River State, also said she went to bed with five men daily, adding that some of her customers paid N1,000.

“I came to the hotel last year and paid N3,000 per week for a room. I did only one round with each customer,” she added.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, said the command swung into action following a tip-off that a syndicate was running a prostitution ring.

“A team of FSARS operatives stormed Collabor Hotel and arrested a 15-year-old girl. She confessed that she was brought to the hotel some weeks ago by one Monica Ita. The coordinators of the prostitution ring, Emmanuel Thomas and John Okon, were also arrested. The case will be charged to court at the completion of investigation,” the CP added.
