Officers in Prince George’s County has commended a pregnant woman,
Andrea Grinage who maintained the strength to both identify her attacker
and deliver her baby after she was set ablaze by her boyfriend.
They were said to have responded to a fire around 11:45 a.m yesterday
when they found her covered in critical burns all over her body. First
responders rushed her to a hospital where she successfully gave birth to
a baby girl who was born seven weeks premature.
The
mother told the officers that her boyfriend poured flammable liquid on
her before setting her ablaze inside her apartment adding that the man
could be en route to Washington D.C with the intention of hurting her
relatives there.
“She was very brave. We want her family to know
how brave she was, suffering as badly as she was critically burned,
worried about her unborn child, dealing with those injuries and was able
share that information with us so that we could moving with our
investigation and locate this person,” A policeman said. Her dad said his daughter and her newborn are fine and the suspect in custody.
